Korda Stow indicators

What Korda say:
Stows are indicators that allow unparalleled sensitivity when using slack or tight lines. Korda acquired the rights to the design from Carl Pashley, the originator of the Elstow bobbins, because we thought that the concept truly represented a step forward in indicator design. That’s not to say that the development team, headed up by Damian Clarke, just copied Carl’s originals. In fact, the resulting bobbins have benefitted from a long period of refining, tweaking and remodelling. The specially configured line clip helps transmit ANY line movement into positive indications that help you to understand what’s happening at the rig end and Stows are especially good at picking up line bites.
The bobbins are available as ready-to-go systems, or as separate, interchangeable components. This means that the systems can be bought off the peg, or built to personal preference. The Stow system fits all alarms with the exception of ATTs and those of similar size, and two sizes of extension ensure that they perform as well with larger alarms like Delkims as they do with smaller, Neville-size ones. Both types of chain are supplied with the complete kits or are available separately, in silver and black. Stows are super versatile also, because they’re incredibly light without added weights, yet they can be loaded up to 12g for range fishing, using the Overweights. To help keep the bobbins safe and undamaged, we’ve produced the Stowaway magnetic cases to house the Stows. Not only are they the most sensitive bobbins on the market, the Stows are certainly the coolest also. It’s hard to imagine a better-looking bobbin! We certainly expect them to develop a cult following in 2011 and beyond.
TeaLeaf Says (September 2012):
I have been using the Stow now for around 7-8 sessions. There is no doubt Korda have put a great deal of thought into this product. And they do look very "cool".
The bite indication is brilliant as they suggest. The bobbin being fixed to the line really does give great feedback.
Personally as a paying customer I think they are a bit pricey, especially if you want all the extra weights etc that can be fitted. However, the image they give your setup is worth it alone.
I have started experiencing one problem with the Stows.....The line clip. The more I use the indicators the more the clip doesn't seem to grab the line so well. Is this a design problem? Something other anglers have experienced it seems http://www.fishingquestions.co.uk/652/what-indicators-bobbins-do-you-use-stows-bugs-solars-etc
The material used for the clip seems very rigid and the more I use it the more it seems to stand away from the body creating less grip when in use. I work with plastics, is the weather/temperature affecting the material? I have recently increased my line thickness due to weedy conditions, if I reduce my line back once the weed starts to die off will the clip still work?
I would be interested to hear if other people have been experiencing this same problem or if they have overcome it some how. Contact me.
To conclude, would I buy Stows again? Yes, but I need to see an improvement in the clip first. Until then and because I am worried they are going to fail to clip my line soon, I intend to do some research into new bobbins other than the Stow.
I have been looking at Taska Carps new Sensalite line clip bobbins, similar shape to the Stow. They have a central line clip. Hey Korda, how about a central line clip version of the Stow? Now that would be sexy!
RRP:
£19.99 (for 1 full Stow, there will be more to pay if you want extra weights and other attachments)
TeaLeafs best search: £17.99
My product score: 6/10 (when I first used these it would have been 10/10, but with the line clip problem I mention it knocks my faith in the products reliability....but they still look good and the idea with the line indication is brilliant!)
