Keep tidy, it makes you more efficient.
Keeping everything tidy and organised makes you more efficient. When setting yourself up think where you will be taking photos and unhooking the fish, prepare that area for doing so. Leaving a fish unattended because you haven't got what you need isn't best and on some waters will even see you banned.
Keep your rig box tidy, it makes tying of rigs so much easier. If you have two tackle boxes like I do then try and separate them into styles of fishing so you don't need both open at the same time which can then encourage untidiness.
Sounds like I have OCD.....I haven't honest.....in fact far from it, quite often my tackle box is getting right messed up. This is how I know being tidy and organised makes you more efficient.
One other thing I always see is rod tips as far out into the lake as possible. This is going encourage crossed lines when playing a fish in my opinion. I like to move my rods as far back as I can so the tips are just over the waters edge (this isn't always possible) especially in tighter swims. I'm confident this has saved me many crossed line disasters. I also think it keeps my swim looking as naturally normal from the carps view too, surely 2 or 3 rods sticking out in such fashion could spook an old weary carp cruising along the margin. Perhaps I'm thinking too deeply??
However, crossed lines in the middle of the night is definitely not a fun thing and will cause major carnage to your swim, a real pain to deal with especially at night. Pulling those rods back is going to save this from happening so often (IMO).
